Taking the First Step

The first step is always the most critical, because it means you have to DO something. You have to take a risk. You have to at least try, and be prepared to potentially fail. At my day job, I work at a software company where we recently had a guest inspirational speaker, Eric Grietens, Navy SEAL and CEO of his own national non-profit. His words were empowering, and are actually the inspiration behind my first post to you. Eric said, "people never quit when they are doing something. No, they quit when they start thinking about it". If I had to guess, I think that's true for most of us. We think about something long and hard, and we usually decide "I can't". I'm not smart enough. I didn't go to school for this. I don't have the experience to do this. I'm afraid to fail. So what happens? The prize goes to the person that tries, and maybe fails, because they stepped out of their comfort zone. They decided to start something that could be great - and all it took was one foot in front of the other, because guess what - they were doing something, not just thinking about it.

So what does this have to do with Marketing Strategies? Well, I am taking Eric's advise to heart. I am trying something new, and starting a website with the goal of empowering other marketers like me who are passionate about attracting, empowering, and relating to their customers.

In this blog, I'll be writing based on my own business and marketing experience and will relay some of the best advice and practical tips for you to implement back to your own business - whether you've already taken that first step, or you're just thinking about it. My hope is that you'll take a leap of faith and start implementing some of the tips I'll share. Mostly, my posts will be related to B2B businesses, but can surely be applied to B2C as well. None of these strategies will expose any business or private concept - they will merely best practices that can easily be followed.

I'll also share inspirations and recommendations including books, products, and other information geared towards making you successful.
